Social media affiliate marketing – how to make money on Facebook, Twitter, and forums
How to earn money through affiliate marketing with your Facebook fanpage, Twitter or forum following
If you are a drummer, drum instructor, drum retailer or music recording specialist, and you have a large following on your Facebook, Twitter or other social media website or forum, then these tips will help you make money through affiliate marketing. Making money with Twitter?! Yep, definitely! You can also check out our step-by-step tutorials on how to apply affiliate marketing to YouTube or your niche website or blog. Before you begin, read the general info on how our affiliate program works and how you can make money with it.
Here are the steps to monetizing your Facebook, Twitter or other social media or forum following:
Step 1. Sign up with clickbank and join our affiliate program. Click here to learn how. The hoplink for the Learn How To Record website is http://AFFILIATE.mikenoises.hop.clickbank.net. Just replace AFFILIATE with your Clickbank username. If you would like a personalized “pretty” hoplink URL like www.learnhowtorecord.com/yourname, contact us with your Clickbank username and preferred URL name, and we will make it happen for you.
Step 2. Write a short review of one of our products (like The Hackers Guide To Drum Recording ebook). Post it on your Facebook fanpage with the hoplink to the Learn How To Record website. Twitter has a tight limit on how many characters you can use per post, so you can either tweet a link to the full review (which has the hoplink), or do a really tiny review in the tweet itself. Make sure to include the hoplink. You can use TinyURL to shorten it.
Step 3. If you are a veteran or have expert status on a drum- or recording-related forum, you can include a one-sentence review of our product (with a hoplink) in your signature, which will appear at the end of every forum post you make. Keep posting as you normally do, and the signature will get attached automatically. This is a great way to generate traffic, get sales and get paid in commissions. If you don’t have expert status, you can still do this, but the better your credibility on each forum, the higher the chances that the readers will follow your advice and buy the product you recommend. To increase your credibility in forums, try to help people by answering their questions and suggesting useful resources to them. Which brings us to the next step:
Step 4. Familiarize yourself with the topics that each product you promote covers and what kind of problems it can solve for people. Seek out forum posts where people ask questions that can be answered with that product. For example, if someone is looking for specific advice on miking up a drum kit, give them a short but useful answer to their question, and then suggest they check out The Hackers Guide To Drum Recording for more information. Don’t forget to embed the hoplink. You can also use this technique with Yahoo Answers and similar sites, and with people posting questions on Twitter or in Facebook groups.
Step 5: Each time someone you refer purchases our product, you earn a commission and get paid! So it is always in your interest that as many people as possible follow your hoplinks and buy the product you are promoting.
- Make sure you post your product review where it is relevant and where your readers will want to see it. You should be helping your audience by sharing a quality resource, not spamming them with things they don’t care about. So if your Facebook fanpage is about gardening, then I doubt your followers will pay much attention to your review of an ebook about recording drums. But if your fanpage is about your quest to becoming a better drummer, your followers will be happy to see it and find it useful. On top of that, you will be making commissions from the sales of the product!
- The quality of your content is important. It’s one of the things that built your following in the first place, so don’t forget about that. Keep posting awesome stuff, building your credibility, and peppering your good content with affiliate links.
- Cross-link between all your social media accounts. This will increase your natural traffic and will lead people to discover more of your content, increasing your credibility and online presence.
- Write us a testimonial, or send us a short review (written or video form), and we will put it up on the Learn How To Record website. This improves our credibility, which increases our sales, and brings higher earnings to affiliates like you!
